Indian Armed Forces
One can join the Indian Armed forces as an Officer and as a Jawan/Soldier/Air man/Sailor entry. In this blog I will be telling you'll about Officer entry.The following are the various academies and the eligibility criterion. The official links are also there with each academies.
NDA:(for Army,Navy,Air Force)

The National Defense Academy(NDA) is for all those young aspirants who want to be a part of the Indian defense forces after their High School that is 12th.

IMA:
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) is for peple who want to join Indian Army as an Officer and in permenant commission. It has following entries:

For NDA cadets it is after their training in the National Defense Academy and the same for ACC( army cadet college).

AFA:
The Air Force academy (AFA) is for people who want to join Indian Air Force as an Officer and in permanent commissions as well as short service commission.There are different exams for the two different commissions. In this academy women are also trained. The Indian air force has a variety of entries for different Educational qualification, to cover all of them in this blog I felt was impractical, so giving the link , go on it , it is of the official website for the Indian Air force . There go on career and according to your qualification or type of search go ahead and you will find the various entries.

The Indian Naval Academy (INA) is for people who want to join Indian Navy as an officer and in both permanent and short service commission. In this academy also, women are trained. the information for further details is in the link below:
there are various entries and for 10+2 students there is Naval Academy (NA) as well.

OTA:

The Officer Training Academy(OTA) is for those aspirants who want to join the Indian Army as an officer but for short service commission. Short service commission officer have the option of joining the Army and serving as a Commissioned Officer for 10 years. At the end of this period you have two options. Either elect for a Permanent Commission or opt out.
Those not selected for Permanent Commission have the option of a 4 years extension. They can resign at any time during this period.
This is the academy in which women also trained. In IMA only men are trained and same with NDA.
